Novelo Dawn

The coffee that changes as you drink it.

Grown at high altitude in the East African highlands, Novelo Dawn tells two stories in one cup. Hot, it opens bright with lemon citrus, thyme, and honey sweetness. As it cools, it transforms — a vivid, tomato-like acidity emerges with sweetness support, becoming richer and more complex with every sip. Scored 87.5 SCA by a certified professional Q-grader.

Origin · Mt. Elgon slopes · Uganda

The origin story behind Novelo Dawn.

Novelo Dawn comes from the Bugisu region of eastern Uganda — the same volcanic soils and high-altitude shade that made Mount Elgon one of the world's most respected coffee regions long before the specialty market noticed. Farmers here have inherited both the land and the craft. The cherries are hand-picked, fully washed, and sorted to AA grade before roasting in Canada. The lemon-citrus opening and the tomato-like sweetness that emerges as the cup cools are direct signatures of Uganda's high-elevation Arabica.

What sets Novelo apart

Numbers, not adjectives.

We publish everything.

Most specialty coffee brands do not publish their cupping scores. We publish every attribute score, every cupper's note, and full certification details for every lot we sell.

88.25 and 87.5 SCA.

The global average SCA score for coffee sold as specialty is approximately 82-83. Both Novelo flagship lots exceed that benchmark by 4-6 points. That is not a marketing claim — it is a certified number.

East Africa at 2,300m.

Our beans grow in the East African highlands at some of the highest altitudes in Africa. Higher elevation means slower cherry development, denser beans, and a more complex cup — the reason our lots score in the Excellent range.

Farmer-direct.

Our beans are sourced directly from farming communities in the East African highlands. No commodity market. No middlemen. Every purchase supports the farmers who grew the coffee.
